Monosomy
Monosomy is a genetic term meaning that there is only one copy of a particular chromosome instead of the usual two. Most monosomies are highly lethal and so we very rarely see viable monosomies other than monosomy X, which is a form of female infertility known as Turner's syndrome.
Is there a lifestyle cause?
Yes. Monosomy X results from misdivision of the sex chromosomes during embryogenesis. Like other errors in cell division, its rate is increased by ageing or where the woman's body is suffering from a serious biological and/or hormonal imbalance. Hormonal imbalances usually result from poor or unbalanced nutrition. Most can be overcome by correcting diet and other negative lifestyle habits.
